Red
Light Center has introduced a virtual in-world currency named "Rays" (R)
and thus became a Real Cash Economy (RCE).
Compared to other virtual worlds you don't have to spend money for buying Rays
from Utherverse, you rather get paid for just living the virtual world and its
social network depending on your activity.
Rays can be used for buying all kinds of goods and services, especially the
special ones...
You can even sell your Rays to other users or investors using the currency
exchange system. The real cash value rates of Rays fluctuate, for the
introduction phase 100 Rays placed a value of about $11.

It's never a good idea to count mmo games before they are
hatched.
Do you remember the beginning of 2006 and its big press
announcement of 5 major game developments in the MMOVSG area ?
For those who still have problems with that term, the meaning is Massively
Multiplayer Online Virtual Sex Games =)
Even the big german newspaper SPIEGEL reported about these developments and
speculated about how these new candidates would implement virtual sex
as an immersive experience...
Well, for most of these games the scheduled release time is up !
Let's take a look on what was reached:
1)
Spend The Night
"Graphically-rich 3D multiplayer
virtual sex role-playing game"
Planned Completion Date: 2007
This game was a really promising candidate, its production suspend was already
announced April 2006 due to funding issues and therefore a very early
disappointment.
2)
Naughty America The Game
"Dating and network realm in a 2D-cartoon-based world"
Planned Completion Date:
March 2006 (Beta Version)
There's no progress on the game homepage, even the entry page still titles "coming
fall 2006". That's not very promising, plain-spoken: really disappointing!
The assumption lies on the hand that this game has been suspended, maybe
completely canceled.
3)
Rapture Online
"3D multiplayer sex simulator"
Planned Completion Date: Q3 2007
For a game that was planned to be released during 2007 a dead forum on the
official game page is very disappointing...no progress news or even a
beta-release in sight.
Also here the assumption lies on the hand that this game has been canceled.
4)
Erotasy Island
"Multiplayer erotic dating game with role-playing game features"
Planned Completion Date: Q1 2008
There's only one forum post where people wonder about the status of this game,
the last post entry brings it to the point:
"Let's see...no update since 2007 January, the Gallery has an PHP error, and
what a surprise, the forum is dead..."
Very questionable if this game is up and running until Q1 2008...
5)
Heavenly Bodies
"Multiplayer game in a magic and science universe with the
support of sexuality"
Planned Completion Date: Unknown
They declare their development advances as top-secret until they have a bit more
to show and tell, well for those extremely curious they offer a link that leads
to a blog placeholder...(?)
At least regular newsletters are arriving where for example a new community
portal is announced for Nov 11th 2007. Let's see...
Conclusion:
The only thing that's really upcoming seems to be a long and cold winter
with not much new to expect in the MMOVSG market.
Hopefully some unidentified submarine project jumps out of its
hide-out ;-)
Fortunately we have our reputable sex game companions:
Red Light Center really taking off in the multiplayer section
and 3D SexVilla 2 +
Virtual Hottie 2 in the singleplayer section.
Nevertheless the chance for some hot action
regardless the poor performance of the upcoming ones.

The
highly anticipated predecessor of 3D SexVilla is now officially available in its
final version. The unique features of 3D SexVilla 2 Everlust are
described downward in the news section from August where the beta release took
place, especially the Face Maker (free adjustment of model appearance), the
Story Mode (experience lust adventures and earn SexCoins) and the Shop System
(spend these SexCoins for additional game content) are outstanding. |

The
Thrixxx Team has started
the Closed Beta phase for the new 3D SexVilla version 2.
You must have been a member for at least 4 days to take part.
Beside a lot of expected but nevertheless striking
successor features...
- new models and locations
- enhanced customizations with various new items (jewelries, tattoos,
outfits)
and placement options
- enhanced foreplay features
- better user interface and navigation
...two of the new features will make a major step in evolving virtual sex
games:
1) The FaceMaker
With that tool times of static model appearance are over:
You're now able to adjust the facial appearance of the models and thus be able
to create the kind of girl you like the most, maybe you try to adapt a models
face to the appearance of someone you know...;-)
2) The Story System
Beside the free fuck mode 3D SexVilla 2 supports a story mode for every location.
With that mode the girls are no more helpless at your mercy,
YOU rather have to get your dreamgirl hook up with you.
This is a major point for experiencing a conquering reward. A difficulty system
makes it even more interesting.
You will be rewarded in form of SexCoins which can be used in the new 3D
SexVilla Shop to unlock SexPacks for example.

August 9th to 11th the first Red Light Center International Film Festival will
take place in the RLC Century Theatre.
Filmmakers from all around the world are invited to submit their work in form of
short films that do not exceed 20 minutes in the categories drama,
comedy and documentary of any subject and interest. This is the first
time that a film festival will present films in real-time to an avatar audience.
Submissions are now open.
There will be no entry fee for the participation, just download the RLC client
software anytime, create your RLC avatar and step into the virtual world for
free. |

After
one year of development SL tested their new voice chat feature during a beta
phase. All you need is a standard headphone with microphone - just as using VoIP
services.
This technology comes up with some specials, i.e. it's possible to detect via a
3D spatial positioning system who is speaking even if it's a group of
persons. Future avatar animations are planned depending on the intensity of
speech. Current instabilities of the game and network lags will not worsen as
this service will be provided on different servers. There will be an indicator
telling other players if you are voice-enabled or not.
Voice ability is linked to land areas, except one-to-one communication where
players share private conversations ;-)
This is a big improvement for business and educational context,
but what's with the social context ?
Well, here the opinions highly differ between those who use SL as a fantasy
world and
those who use SL as first life extension.
Due to the possibility of VoIP gender-, age-, etc.- detection the mentality will
change kind of:
"I won't believe you are who you are until you talk..."
"Well there is VoIP support, why won't you talk..."
Most interesting for sure is gender detection:
Think of a blonde super hostess / escort resident having a voice like Hulk...
When getting private with someone you can assure that the gender fits
and have a more immersive way of interacting by using this voice feature,
but the danger is that every woman with disabled voice will be banned as a
man...
Judge for yourself what VoIP support generally means for you...
However, if you prefer to keep real life identity as anonymous as possible you
can:
- continue using Instant Messaging and chat functionalities
- use third party software to modify your voice
