Progress Check
on upcoming Multiplayer Sex Games turns out as a major disappointment

It's never a good idea to count mmo games before they are
hatched.
Do you remember the beginning of 2006 and its big press
announcement of 5 major game developments in the MMOVSG area ?
For those who still have problems with that term, the meaning is Massively
Multiplayer Online Virtual Sex Games =)
Even the big german newspaper SPIEGEL reported about these developments and
speculated about how these new candidates would implement virtual sex
as an immersive experience...
Well, for most of these games the scheduled release time is up !
Let's take a look on what was reached:
1)
Spend The Night
"Graphically-rich 3D multiplayer
virtual sex role-playing game"
Planned Completion Date: 2007
This game was a really promising candidate, its production suspend was already
announced April 2006 due to funding issues and therefore a very early
disappointment.
2)
Naughty America The Game
"Dating and network realm in a 2D-cartoon-based world"
Planned Completion Date:
March 2006 (Beta Version)
There's no progress on the game homepage, even the entry page still titles "coming
fall 2006". That's not very promising, plain-spoken: really disappointing!
The assumption lies on the hand that this game has been suspended, maybe
completely canceled.
3) Rapture Online
"3D multiplayer sex simulator"
Planned Completion Date: Q3 2007
For a game that was planned to be released during 2007 a dead forum on the
official game page is very disappointing...no progress news or even a
beta-release in sight.
Also here the assumption lies on the hand that this game has been canceled.
4)
Erotasy Island
"Multiplayer erotic dating game with role-playing game features"
Planned Completion Date: Q1 2008
There's only one forum post where people wonder about the status of this game,
the last post entry brings it to the point:
"Let's see...no update since 2007 January, the Gallery has an PHP error, and
what a surprise, the forum is dead..."
Very questionable if this game is up and running until Q1 2008...
5)
Heavenly Bodies
"Multiplayer game in a magic and science universe with the
support of sexuality"
Planned Completion Date: Unknown
They declare their development advances as top-secret until they have a bit more
to show and tell, well for those extremely curious they offer a link that leads
to a blog placeholder...(?)
At least regular newsletters are arriving where for example a new community
portal is announced for Nov 11th 2007. Let's see...
Conclusion:
The only thing that's really upcoming seems to be a long and cold winter
with not much new to expect in the MMOVSG market.
Hopefully some unidentified submarine project jumps out of its
hide-out ;-)
Fortunately we have our reputable sex game companions:
Red Light Center really taking off in the multiplayer section
and 3D SexVilla 2 +
Virtual Hottie 2 in the singleplayer section.
Nevertheless the chance for some hot action
regardless the poor performance of the upcoming ones.
